The Himean Department of Science (HDoS) is portrayed as a group of scientists looking to improve living conditions and convenience for the whole of Hima. In reality, they are extremely shady and many of the experiments are morally wrong.

Some of their projects include:
Project Cat's Cradle (PCC), experiments done to transform one species of being to another,
Project Coldstone (PCS), experiments done to create hybrids of non-compatible beings and animals,
Project Ruby (PR), experiments done to transform plain beings to partial or full demons,
Project Goldhoard (PGH), experiments done to infuse humans (relatively low in magic ability) with dragons' blood without killing them via magic overload,
Project Island (PI), experiments done to imbue living beings with capabilities of inanimate objects,
Project Interface (PIF), experiments done to combine living beings and animals with technology.
